Purpose Statement

To be a loving church that makes disciples of Jesus Christ on the foundation of prayer and obedience.

Our Vision/Identity Statement

To act as “Christ’s Family in the City” by fulfilling the biblical values of our mission:

Prayer
“For my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
Isaiah 56:7

We commit to fulfill our calling to pray for individuals, our community, missions, and global issues.
We also are dedicated to approaching all aspects of our ministry as a church prayfully, and consider it the foundation to our vision.

Love
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
1 John 4:7

“We love because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19

We are committed to loving all members of Christ’s creation. Within our church, we are called to fellowship with one another in an encouraging and affirming environment.

Service
“Prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
Ephesians 4:12

“The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”
Matthew 25:40

As a family, it is clear that one of the best ways to demonstrate God’s love is through serving our community. We commit to communicating with our neighbors in inner-city Long Beach and integrating their needs into service opportunities within our present ministry.

Discipleship
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20

As a church, we understand the responsibility of leading others into the family of Christ. We are committed to reaching our community together as one body, as well as equipping our members to make disciples in their everyday lives.

Leadership
“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
Ephesians 4:11-12

Within our community of believers, we desire to raise up leaders for our present ministries as well as leaders to form new ministries. We commit to equip each member through the messages of our sermons, Sunday school classes, and our various Bible studies with the spiritual means to serve as leaders in our church.

Worship
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.”
Romans 12:1

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
John 4:24

Worship is a way of living that acknowledges that God is God and we are his created followers. We commit to worship in this large sense, as well as to express in our times of worshipping together the joy and wonder that are ours as His people. We commit to supporting artistic forms of worship as expressions of people created in the image of God, that we might bring glory to His name.
