When Jesus spoke and the Biblical writers penned their words, they had very precise meanings for the words they used and the images they invoked. These writers assumed many things about those who heard their words and read their accounts. These presuppositions included the audience’s understanding of Jewish history, Roman occupation, literary form and linguistic understanding, Messianic expectation and prophecy, the "Oral Tradition," the physical settings, Jewish religious culture and practices, etc., as well as their own respective cultures. To fully appreciate the content of the Biblical record, its context needs to be restored if we are to (re)discover the transformational impact fully intended by the Holy Spirit.

This seminar focuses on a contextual understanding of major Biblical themes and develops a framework for approaching the Scriptures in context. It extensively uses Holy Land visuals and aerial video and years of contextual research in the Middle East.
